Someone calls us at 2 a.m. A family member is at a police station after a fight outside a restaurant. The other man is in hospital. Nobody has told the family the charge yet, only that he has not been allowed to leave.A representative scene, not a reported case.
01Physical Assault Charges
Simple assault is generally causing harm to another person's body. The seriousness depends on the injury, the intent and the circumstances. The medical report and any days of incapacity are important.
We check what the report actually states, how the injury was caused, and whether there was provocation or self-defence. In some assault cases, the injured person's position can influence the outcome, and we explore that where appropriate.
02Aggravated Assault
Aggravating features include premeditation, a group acting together, a public official, a vulnerable victim or a particular place. They can raise the charge and the penalty.
Defence work focuses on whether the aggravating element is proved. Often it is alleged but not shown by the evidence.

WhatsApp us03Assault Causing Serious Injury
Where the injury is permanent or severe, the charge rises and the medical evidence becomes decisive. Questions include the cause of the injury, the treatment given and whether other events contributed.
We examine the hospital records and, if necessary, request further medical review. Compensation to the injured person is a separate track from the criminal penalty, and both need to be handled with care.
04Assault With a Weapon
Use of a weapon or an object used as a weapon increases the seriousness. The prosecution needs to prove the object was used, what it was and who used it.
In group incidents, the identification of each person's act is often the weak point. CCTV, witness statements and recovered items are examined line by line.
05Attempted Murder
Attempted murder requires proof of intent to kill and an act directed to that result. Many charges are filed on the nature of the injury but the evidence of intent may be thin.
We test the intent evidence: what was said, the weapon, the manner and the location of the injury. Where intent is not proved, the charge may be reduced to a lesser offence.
06Murder & Manslaughter Defence
Homicide cases are the most serious in the system. UAE law distinguishes premeditated and non-premeditated killing and unintentional causing of death, and it also recognises the rights of the victim's family, including blood money (diya) and pardon, which can affect the outcome in some cases.
These cases require early, close work: the scene, the forensic evidence, the sequence of events and any self-defence or loss-of-control argument. We are available at any hour in emergency criminal matters and we guide the family through each stage: Police, Prosecution, Court and Appeal.

Questions we are asked
Can the family make a settlement?
In some offences, a settlement or pardon with the victim can affect the case. Whether it applies, and its effect, depends on the charge and the stage.
What if I acted in self-defence?
Self-defence can be a complete defence, but it must meet legal conditions of necessity and proportion. Evidence of the other person's attack is critical.
Can I be represented at the police station?
Yes. We attend police and Public Prosecution interviews, and represent clients before the criminal courts and on appeal where applicable.
