Which clauses should I read first?
Notice and claim procedures, time bars, the engineer's role and determination, payment, variation, extension of time and dispute resolution. Make a list of each time limit and the date it runs from. That list is the backbone of the claim.
What are the usual dispute steps?
Many contracts require referral to the engineer, then a dispute board or adjudication, amicable settlement, then arbitration or court. Skipping a step can allow the other side to challenge the claim. We confirm the sequence before filing.
How is the claim proved?
From the project record: instructions, programmes, minutes, site diaries and correspondence. Technical issues usually end up with an expert. See variation disputes and termination.
